Leg warmer fitting

Bought some dhb arm and leg warmers from wiggle, and being a slightly taller gentleman I opted for the large size, which fitted fine around my thigh, but not so well around my ankle, with way too much slack.

Has anyone else noticed this about leg warmers, I have returned to see if the medium fairs any better but skeptical that they will fit around my thighs. How much slack do your leg warmers leave around your ankles? I would hope they would be snug enough to keep the wind out but this wasn't the case!

Tuck them in your socks?

Brands will vary, perhaps try gore for longer snugger fit if their jackets are anything to go by!

Mine are slack around the ankles as well, but I have very skinny joints and always have had. Plus mine are mens extra small because that was all that was available when I purchased them and even they are actually too large for me. I find putting some thick woollen socks underneath helps but only to a small extent.

I may have to treat myself to a new pair soon.

I think the message you should be taking from this is, don't buy clothes untried - go to a sports store eg decathlon and take some pairs into the fitting room.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
A few words of caution - I bought a pair of leg warmers that were a good fit below the knee but were rather tight round the thigh. I kept them on for over 6 hours on a tough sportive in cold conditions and ended up with a very painful right leg which continued to suffer problems for over 5 years after that!

Knowing what I know now (having suffered life-threatening blood clotting problems), I think the over-tight elastication at the top of the leg warmers cut off the surface blood supply and caused clots in the superficial veins.

My flesh became so numb that I could pinch it hard between my fingernails and not feel it. I could not even lift my leg over the saddle to get off the bike - I had to lay it down and step off it.

If you can't get a perfect fit then I suggest - better too loose in places, than too tight in others!

Except leg warmers and arm warmers are often kimbled (those plastic thingys) to the packaging so not so easy! Some are just looped through

I've yet to see different lengths on arm & leg warmers. Different makes might well differ in length (so you might want to shop around) but I think the most important measure is top of arm/leg. No good if they fall down or are uncomfortably tight. Whatever size works there is the size to get, and make do with the length, whatever it may be... unless you useful with needle and thread.

As a ducks disease sufferer, I have to make do with ankle gather. Fashion statement it's not, functional it is.

My Assos arm warmers are rather nifty though as they seem to have loads of stretch and despite looking tiny off are perfect on, both arm tops and length. Got some old Avanti (NZ make) knee warmers that are now so baggy that I could audition for the role of Nora Batty in them. Get what you pay for I guess.

Eeek! Consider warning heeded! I'll try switching brand if need be! Just went for the cheapest!

After googling, at first I thought @yello had duck plague, but further investigation revealed that only affects ducks, or geese or swans.

Is duck's disease an actual thing or is it just a term used when someone has small legs?
