Cycling home tonight I came across one of these fitted to a rear of a HGV.

A wee bit googling around a Huntington company specialising in them and their web site and a video of their products is quite informative.

This could be helpful but not in the way they think. I wonder if the damning footage from a fatal left hook will be lost, accidentally of course.

Also, does a shoot light on the back of a truck have the legal power to close a left hand cycle lane? Seems dodgy and displaying false road signs should be illegal.

And the 4x4 in the OP is hardly a large vehicle.

Absolutely. Just like indicators do, the average driver will use such signs as a substitute for actually looking.

Whereas properly trained drivers who constantly practice proven safety drills don't use them as a substitute for proper obs like the average driver does :ohmy:
