Hi all,

Bought a new light last week. Wasn't cheap, very bright, single LED, Lithium Ion battery pack...

When I switch it on, my Cateye Strada Wireless Computer stops recording speed, time etc. Just a big zero on the screen. Obviously there's interference, but is there a solution?

I could try to mount the computer somewhere else... perhaps on the forks to leave as short a distance as possible between the units. Not really possible to move the light.

Anyway. Anyone had this problem also? Any solutions out there?

cheers

Try re-syncing the sensor and computer on a different channel - might help ?

I have the Cateye double wireless and it sits smack in the middle of two Hope 1's and I've never had any interference on any light level.

Can you move light further from computer ?

Thanks for the advice fossyant. No idea how you would re-sync the sensor? Is that easy to do?

I can try to move the light and the computer around, but I don't have much space to play with. It's a CX bike so I've got bar mounted brake levers too so the light is literally in the only space free before the bartape starts. Computer is on the stem.

Another thought I had was to move the computer unit onto the fork if it fits, so that there's no distance between the sensor and the computer. I wouldnt be able to see the data, but at least it would still record distances.

Otherwise I'll just have to be computerless for the winter!

My cheap Raleigh Echo wireless computer suffer a fair bit from LED interference, but I found there was a critical distance which resulted in no interference but that easier on a flat bar bike, could you perhaps use a bar extender to get them further apart :?:

SOLVED!!

Been having a fiddle about with the bike today, and decided to set about investigating how far from the light the computer needed to be in order for it not to interfere with the signal... I did also discover yesterday that the computer will work when the light is set to flashing mode, just not when constant - which was odd.

Anyway, it turns out that it's not even the light. The problem was that I had threaded the cable from the light to the battery pack through the computer mount to keep it tight to the stem and stop it from being loose. As soon as I moved this cable away from the computer it started working again...

Can't explain it, but happy it's all working!

Yeah my LEDs on interfere on flashing not solid too; I think its because an electrical pulse is being sent out at a certain frequency on flashing but its a different frequency and more constant rather than pulsating in the solid mode but I'm no expert there though. I'm glad you got it sorted :becool:

Just a thought, and it is good to know you have solved it, but you could try mounting the magnet and sensor on the rear wheel.
