Following on from the rip off wheel truing thread, I have a question!
What would be a reasonable price for fitting a new gear cable and adjusting the gears front and back?
Just don't want ripping off! ;)

Dunno, mine charges £36 p/h if it helps.

Edit £32 p/h, just paid £8 for trueing a wheel.

Doesn't help a great deal Cheadle - depends how long it takes!
I don't like the idea of charging per hour either, I can imagine some will drag out a job and rip customers off?

And DIY? I'm a walking talking DIY disaster man. I created the problem in the first place through my terrible DIY/tampering, so I'm staying well away this time

In the long run, get some tools and a book on maintenance and learn how to do it.
The only thing I'm not keen on doing myself is fitting a starnut, which cost me £5.

Never mind star nuts... now't to do with the OP question.

Gratts... can you get yourself, bike and new cable to my place ? I'll give you a hand sorting it. Adjusting gears really is one thing you should learn to do for yourself.

It's this sort of thing, Lee. Opened it up but couldn't really see how to disconnect and replace the cable, and then made things worse with my clumsy ways :laugh:
