hi guys

after completing my 30 mile round trip commute to work yesterday - the last mile or so my lower back was aching like made.

it didn't use to happen on my MTB and i'm wondering if the lay back angle on the seat post could be the problem and changing to a straight post would be better,

what do you guys think????

If the issue is that your saddle is too far behind the bottom bracket for your body shape then maybe.

If the issue is that the reach to the bars and/or the drop from seat to bars is too great then no it won't.

Saddle position should always be set relative to the bottom bracket and reach adjusted for with a different length stem.

Thanks for the help guys - the seat problem isn't to shorten the reach as my stem has been adjusted to cope with that. But on the return journey i did move my saddle back and that was when it started to make my back ache.

i will put the straight up tube in and re- adjust my saddle to see if this helps.

i'm also thinking of adding one of these to help with the bad roads around my area http://www.wiggle.co.uk/post-moderne-cushy-sl-seat-post/

I sometimes get lower back pain, it is usually due to tight hamstrings. A minute of stretching them while out on the road and the pain goes. If you have up'd your mileage recently maybe your hamstrings are tightening? It is not always a setup issue with bike. Might be though :-)
