- ...I don't have much idea - really.
I was going to post this in 'Your ride today' - as I mentioned earlier today (well, yesterday now as it's just gone midnight!), when I posted there...
Instead, I got involved. Stopped and took photos for this forum - to 'jog' everyone's mind about the frailty of life in situations like this girl found herself.
I did cycle past the incident shortly after it happened last Thursday, and it was eerily quiet up there around 9am...obviously serious because of the road closures and the amount of police.
It was also strange because there was a mangled bike a long way from the junction where the incident happened - perhaps easier to understand given the subsequent reports.
I googled the girl's name and found plenty of articles...here, here, here, here, here for example - trying to build a 'picture' in my mind.
No comment on cause or blame but the ad hoc memorial to someone who appeared to be 'full of life' is a terrible reminder that, no matter how careful you are, someone can snuff out the light on your candle of life - just like that.
Every sympathy to the families involved - it is very sad to see a private life made 'public' for all the wrong reasons. I hope they are able to celebrate her life next week.
Be aware.
