Me and OH are looking for a tent.

Having perused the tent threads we like the look of the Laserlarge 3 - plenty of room and we like the porch. It seems to be out of stock though, and was probably out of our price range anyway.

Does anyone know of similar tents (size, weight, porch) around the £250 spot?

I think that the Vango spirit 300+ may be an alternative, probably a little heavier though not too bad at 3.1Kg.

Terra Nova have a sister company that make more budget tents. The materials they use are not so technically advanced so a bit heavier. Unless you're planning something extreme or gram counting they'll be plenty good enough, alot of the design features have trickled down from the dearer range. The one I think you may be interested in is the Duolite Tourer, shop around and it can be found for under £200.

Terra nova have a 30% discount if you send them an old tent, any old tent. Or they did last I looked. Google terra nova tent trade-in, and you'll find you the page.

Thanks for the suggestions.

We'd discovered the Duolite earlier this evening,I've seen it at around £195, think we've decided to plump for it.

The Vango spirit is slightly bigger for a similar weight but I've seen some terrible reviews of it online.

I have a Laser Space 2 and I love it. Slightly heavier than the "coffin" types, but I can put my bike in the porch easily, I can stand up to get changed, cook, use a chair etc. The quality is top notch too. Happy I paid a bit extra.

No help to you Sara but I can't help wondering why Terra Nova discontinued the Laserlarge 3. It's a genuine 2 man tent with enough room for luggage in the sleeping area, a huge porch, slightly higher than most rivals and it only weighs 2kg.
There doesn't seem to be a like for like TN replacement. Mine has done 5 years of touring without any problems.

A side question about the larger tents: are they much colder? I've been using a small 1 man tent, and as soon as get around to buying a new one, I'd like to upgrade to a roomy 2-man tent. What strikes me, is I have a fairly rubbish Millets sleeping bag and I've always been very snug. I'm worried a tent upgrade, may end up being a sleeping bag upgrade too in a roomy tent. Other thing, wild camping: much harder to find a pitch?

PS hope not derailing too much, seems OP already has some good answers.

Whooopee!

Managed to pick a Laser Space 2 up for £290 - can't wait to try it out!!!!

Grats, you will love it, I know I do. Being able to get changed standing up is worth the money alone, but it only takes 5 minutes to put up and about 3 to take down. You just stuff the lot in the stuff bag, no zips required ^_^
