Hi everyone!
My name is Jenny and I am a student at Babson College. I'm currently working on the development of a bicycling safety product along with my team. As part of our business class, Fundamentals of Management and Entrepreneurship, my team and I are trying to improve cycling on the streets and create a safer environment for both cyclists and drivers. We created LightSavior!
LightSavior is a traveling bicycle lane. It utilizes a strong laser light that shines from the back of your bicycle at an angle. It hits the road projecting a bicycle lane parallel to the cyclist, so that the incoming driver has a good estimation of how far away he/she should be driving from the cyclist.
We have created a survey and the results will be a guideline for our marketing plans, and used to interpret whether or not our product is feasible, and if ourproduct LightSavior can move to the next stage of implementing. We just need 100 responses but we are lacking cyclists in our personal contact list-- which is why I am posting in here -- so if you could all please fill out the survey, I would really appreciate it. It is only nine questions and should only take a minute. Thank you all in advance!!

These surveys seem to double up an awful lot.

I did your survey but don't bother. All the ones that are already out there are crap. It's not what car drivers see as the image is projected too low down on the road to be of any use. It's something to get gullible cyclists to spend money on something that's not needed.

No way would I buy one, it's a silly idea, drivers don't gaze at the surface of the road, if they even notice the light they would probably get distracted and crash. Waste of money.

Posting on a UK forum won't get you many answers regarding 'which US region do you live in'.
I got to that question and didn't bother with the rest. Maybe you should target a US market?

Unless the laser is capable of slicing off an approaching car's mirror, it's not for me.

These gimmicks remove too much of the responsibility from drivers instead of addressing why it is that drivers don't use judgement and care when passing. The focus should be on making drivers realise that they have to actively look out for all manner of hazards and react accordingly. With the growing insistence on things like hi-vis, flashing lights and now this, drivers are being conditioned to be passive observers; it gives them yet another excuse to trot out when any one of these 'conspicuity' items is absent.

Then, when the hi-vis, flashing lights, blaze projector, spoke reflectors, monkey lights and a laser lane isn't enough, someone will design something else to attach to the cyclist. And on, and on, and on...

Done but as @glenn forger states most drivers do not look down at the floor whilst driving ! so it may be a better idea to invent something which places a line verticaly from the bike and at a distance away from it.
