how do I establish what is installed. I am relatively computer literate but can't find this piece of info. given that it is about 5 years old I am wondering if it is possible it won't have one. Have upgraded memory but am wondering whether I need to do something with VC.

It's not under 'Display adapters' in the Device Manager then?

SiS650 comes up there is that it, doesn't say anything about Video Card

That's the one. Google informs me that it's integrated graphics, i.e. part of your motherboard, not a separate graphics card. So good luck doing anything with it in a laptop case.

Unless I'm very much mistaken that is absolutely ancient.

I'm sure it is it's an old lap top from work which I have bought home at no cost for one of my boys. So next question is can I do anything about it? virtual tennis for instance needs ATI Radeon 9600 or higher/Nvidia Geforce FX5900 or higher. the laptop is absolutely fine for internet, and microsoft applications but I am sure given the chance he may like to play the odd game.

Virtual or Virtua? I ask because Virtua tennis is a fairly famous game. I've played it and the information you want is probably out there.

You're right it's virtua. I guess it's possible when I get the additional memory card to put in it might play it?

Adding memory will not make a difference - it's the video card that needs to be up to date and those quoted above are more powerfull than your existing one. Also if the graphics card is built into the motherboard you will not be able to upgrade:sad:

Yes. Do upgrade the drivers.

Unfortunately it won't be possible to upgrade the graphics on that laptop.

Virtua Tennis the original I have no doubt will run on that system, I have the hunch you are talking about virtua tennis 3. The cards it talks about in the minimum specs are old but it needs directX 9.0c which along with only 64Mb shared is the problem.

Great thanks, for your help folks. I thought that would be the case, given that it was free I have no complaints. We have an old chessmaster that I am sure will run on it and as has been said there are one or two fun things on the net. The rest of the time he'll be doing HOMEWORK:biggrin::biggrin:,

There are plenty of games (that are slightly older) that will run on that system Willow, just not virtua tennis 3 unfortunately. So if you get hold of some white titles, classics or second hand games some of them should run fine.
