Hi Dranny, much of this is my local stomping ground though I haven't actually ridden the whole route in one go I have done it all. The northern section is more difficult than the southern but also far more beautiful. be prepared for some decent climbs but nothing to cause a major problem over two days. The route west of the M6 is flat and fast, I prefer riding it from north to south but check the prevailing wind as it can get very gusty. However you may be better to do this section south to north as this means the climbs will be slightly easier in the hillier parts. The harder part is the area north of Slaidburn.
