Free-wheeling into oblivion...
Went to the LBS today to try and make my mind up on one of these...

2011 Specialized Tarmac Comp

2011 Kuota Kebel 105

Different wheels and cranksets, but very similar specs.

Heart says Kebel, head says Spesh. I would be happy with either.

Which would you get (and why) ?

Please don't say that I should get a Cube or Canyon or XYZ. I have to buy from my LBS for various reasons and these are the two that stand out at this price bracket.

Cheers,
Daniel.

Go with the spesh, you won't regret it.

I prefer the tarmac by both looks and the comfort. However as I have not tested these it's purely based on a viewing basis on the internet.

Wel I can certainly understand your predicament.

I like the spesh, and it was one of the bikes on my wish list until I finally went for my scott. But im always surfing the net looking at bikes (missus goes mad) and I have been looking at kuota recently and they look like a very good buy. I too would like the uniqueness.
On balance I would probably be a coward and play safe with the spesh.

Looking at them they appear to be slightly different bikes. The bigger the tubes then the stiffer the ride - check out the size of the main triangle tubes and note the differences - so I would expect the Kebel to be a bit more speed orientated at the expense of comfort.

Reading a review about the Kebel it said it was quite comfy - but I wonder what it's like if you popped a stiff pair of wheels on.

I'd be a bit more confident that the Specialized could cope with stiffer wheels without being uncomfortable.

It would have to be the Kebel for me.

The Spec is probably a nice bike, but I've never really warmed to Specialized for some reason, and I really dont like that paint job, it looks somehow "industrial" .

Plus the Kuota is certainly going to be a rarer sight on the roads, and it does indeed look good in the flesh.

I think the spesh looks nicer, but like others have said - go for the Kuota as it's what you want and it's rarer.
