Now that they have redesigned the cylinder, which was previously prone to jam at the most inconvenient moment, it's not a bad lock IME. The only downside is that it's often only possible to lock through the rear triangle and wheel (depending on the rack), but on the other hand doing that makes it very difficult for a thief to spring the lock using a jack.

The lock is silver rated. Personally, I think its fine for bikes worth up to £600 as long as you're sensible about where you lock your bike.

I've got one, fine for leaving in a well trafficked area for an hour or two. Wouldn't leave for longer in a high risk area. I've used mine as secondary lock to the superior abus granit when leaving for longer in London

I'm not a massive fan of mini locks as they restrict where you can lock (i.e. Not lampposts etc) and it can be like the krypton factor on stands too!

Make sure it meets your insurance providers terms

Would it be suitable for locking my 5 year olds Isla bike when it arrives @vickster ? Outside local shop when he cycles there with mum or playground when he plays, that sort of thing. It's just for the odd time it's left whilst he plays but we are always with him. I would then use it the odd time I have to go into a town, Lancaster, or supermarket but it's not for commuting or leaving in a large city all day. I have used Abus u locks on motorbikes in past but a bit large

Yeah it'd be fine for that, the cable is a bonus for securing the front wheel .

Just bear in mind that if a scrote with the right tools really wants your bike and had the opportunity, then no bike will be safe with any lock. Make sure the bikes are insured, home insurance usually the best bet, check excess etc

Thank you :okay: my bike and his are less than £800 and I didn't choose to insure them in house policy. It was any single bike £1000 or more but I'm looking at a condor Acciaio or Ss condor this year so will be changing policy then

Are they not covered anyhow?

I think they are covered, yes. if I want to insure individual bikes of a £1000 or more then I declare them and pay a bigger premium.
