Just taken off my Bontrager racelight tyres and changed to Krylion Carbons to have new tyres for the Dragon next week. The Bontragers were a big improvement over the Hutchinsons that came with my Scott and the Krylions feel faster than the Bontragers.

Wet and Windy ride this morning with some A and b road and some wet muddy and steep lanes. The Krylions didnt give me any cause for concern and felt light and quick.

Time will tell but so far very pleased.

Great choice to get them on just before a big event too, nothing worse than the day being spoilt by a puncture or three!

Get a write-up on the review section Banjo so others can gauge for themselves (add in your sportive and finalise it after say 1k miles).

Are they faster? Or just feel that way? Looking to make the same transition so your impressions are considerable interest.

Hard to be scientific about it as I rarely ride exactly the same route but definitely felt good despite awfull weather this AM. Handling felt fine on some twisty downhill bits never felt like they were about to slide on the wet bits.

I bought them a few months ago after reading a Cycling plus review of 10 tyres for fast commuting. They were rated highly for speed and strength against some more expensive tyres. Fairly easy to get on the rims .

Thanks for this. Appreciate your comments. I use Bonty Hardcase on all my bikes and find them generally 'fit for purpose' commuting, Audax and fitness riding. Looking for new tyres for the Audax bike and while the Bonty's have performed well I am always watching out for any cost effective improvements I can make. May give a set a try.

Funnily enough, I've used both, in fact due to cheapskatedness I have Krylion on the front and a Bonty on the rear at the mo. I'd say the Bonty's were the faster lighter tyre. I really didn't like Krylions, though their durability is very good.
About to order some new PR3s though, whoopeee

Be careful with them on drain covers and other metal things: they're treacherously slippy in the wet.

I've got Krylions on my Yukon, and I like them. They are reasonably fast and grippy, don't flat too often but are durable: my last set lasted 3000 miles. I don't think you'll be disappointed with them.

Recently made the change too but found them a nightmare to get on the first time (took me about half an hour and my fingers were in agony by the end) whereas the bonty hardcase were pretty easy. Took one off after a couple of hundred miles use just to make sure i would be able to change a puncture by the roadside and they were ok and had loosened up sufficiently.

Seem decent enough so far, havent really noticed much difference in the wet compared to hardcase or armadillos i've had on in the past. Actually dont really notice much difference in handling between these 3 tyres...i did notice a slight difference when riding with ultremo r1 but i was puncturing far too regularly to make it worthwhile. Vittoria open pave were lovely but only got about 1200 miles out of them, not much for £45 each!

I'm doing the same. Krylion on the front. Wired Gator on the back for cheapskate summer mileage. It's not unknown for people to do 'chipper'* races on Krylions, so they aren't seen as too much of a disadvantage when performance is even more paramount.

*relatively unimportant.

The Audax boys over at yacf love Krylions for their mix of longevity, speed, comfort and P*ncture protection.
I can't wait for my PR3's to arrive, a sure sign winter is over. I get 2 to 3 summers from a pair.

I'm a great fan of Krylions.

I just got over 6000 miles out of one on the front. Mean distance between punctures (for the whole bike) is 1500 miles, as compared with 900 for Gatorskins. Figures from 3000 miles/year commuting over the last five years; two years with Gatorskins and three with Krylions.

I used to use Krylion's a couple of years ago. Went through 2 pairs in 2 years, so can't complain about durability. My issues with them were availability, and that they were prone to being easily cut. Which meant that I had to de-flint them every other day.

I've been using Vittoria Diamante Pro's for over a year now on my main bike. Which are faster and more forgiving/flexible than the Krylions. Even though they're marketed as a 'race' tyre I've had 5000 miles out of them so far. And they don't cut easily and grip much better than the Krylions, in all kinds of weather.
