First time fitting Kool Stop Salmon block cartridges today, I noticed that no matter how small a gap I left between the blocks and the rims, I still couldn't get the levers to feel has tight as I normally have them. Is this normal with Kool Stops ? I did noticed the tips that touch the rim first did look squishy.

My opinion is those tips are utterly pointless, and are just there to make it really awkward to get the brakes set up. They'll wear down fairly quickly and you set the brakes up properly.

I was thinking that, they're meant to repel water from the rims. Just giving them their maiden test this morning so I'll let you know what I think of them.
Thanks for the replies guys !!

mm, as someone who isn't that technical but recently seemed to totally, if temporarily, **er his v-brakes (so there was no pressure at all when pulling the levers) after a very simple wheel removal, are you sure that you haven't accidentally interfered with something else?

Either that or you are very sensitive to very small changes.

Don't think so, I think it's more to do with the protruding edge of the cartridge itself.
Just got back from a 65 miler and I must say, loving these blocks, no picking up bits of grit etc that play havoc with your rims. They got a lovely soft feel to them, would def recommend.
