Knife and fork - what hand?

Sitting here watching come dine with me and one of them complained about the others cutlery position.

I am right handed, and hold the fork in my right hand, knife in the left.

Mrs Aud is also right handed and does the opposite!

What way is "the right way"

Normally knife in right, fork in left.

But I often cut food up with knife and fork as above, then put fork in right hand (so I can hold my book in my left hand!)

The convention is what Mrs Aud does. You are unusual, as most people who do that are left handed. I am left handed and mostly do it the conventional way, but I can do it fork-right/knife-left quite easily.

Just been reminded that i play golf left handed too despite being right handed.

I'm left handed but was brought up to eat 'right handed'. so ...

Fork in left hand and knife in right hand, but spoons are always in left hand. It's only eating puds the 'posh way' with a fork and spoon that pose a problem

I'm in the “wrong handed“ club as well - fork in the right hand, knife in the left, though I also use my right hand to hold a spoon which means I've never used a fork and a spoon to eat pudding. I spent a long time with only the use of my right hand as a kid after an accident so had to adapt my cutlery-wielding skills to my circumstances rather than social conventions.
