Not knees as such, but I don't like the muscles getting cold at all. I've currently got full winter bibs on that protect my knees and quads. Cold quads and you'll stop. I'm a bit 'old skool' anyway and it was drilled into us as young club cyclists that the knees didn't come out unless it was baking hot, or you were racing.

I don't think it's good practice to regularly get them cold for obvious reasons.

Cold knees means painful knees for me. Here in southern Spain, I'm fine in my usual thin tights through most of the winter, with an extra base layer for chilly days, or when I'm going into the mountains. In most of the UK, I'd probably have to wear knee warmers as well. (However, my knees have taken a battering from a few years of dancing and two accidents with cars that they took the brunt of.)

Like fossy, I'm a believer in keeping warm. Cold muscles - and tendons and ligaments - damage more easily, and that would potentially mean time off the bike.

cold knees is bad knees. mainly for muscles but as we dont have any temperature sensors in our knees we'd not necessarily feel if we're doing any damage because of it.

leg warmers are the way forward, we do not live in the south of france (thankfully)

As a kid I played lots of sports in the cold, rugby, hockey per say but never were we told about wrapping up knees

But I can see it makes sense keeping the muscles etc all warm

I guess a bit like a cold f1 tyre it won't perform well
