I'm getting slight pain in my knee (the middle and left side of my right knee) I think it started when I was climbing hills in Cornwall but it seems to be slightly worse. I'm getting quite worried as I don't want to give up cycling. Any ideas?

You might just need to adjust your saddle.

Saddle position seems the most likely cause. It could be too high or too low, make small 1cm adjustments to saddle height, also check saddle fore / aft position, are you sitting too far forward?

Thanks guys, it would make sense as I get it a lot less on my mountain bike and the saddle is higher on the MTB, I might bite the bullet and get a bikefit done.

I just went to my LBS apparently my cleats are in an awful position so that's now sorted, I've raised my saddle, I'll try it tomorrow.

Good luck with the bike fit. I hope it improves your situation.
Two weeks off is not too bad. It will give your knee time to recover and the time will soon pass. Do some fettling.^_^
Just take it easy when you get back on the bike and ease your way back into riding it.
I wish you all the best.
