Held off from knee and shin pads up till now as I hate being 'over-cluttered' when on the trails...but today I went an absolute pearler on the stegasauros at Cannock - bike one side of the 'teeth' me the other and left with a 6 inch gash on the top of my knee, should go to A&E but stuff it - opened my new mouth up and pored loads of antiseptic spray in there......anyhoos...knee protectors, can someone recommend a set that does the job, is lightweight but won't break the piggy bank?....

Thanks mate - am looking on ebay now as the budget has been blown on winter gear. Cut was worse than I thought - just got back from hospital where they put on about a 1,000 strips and dressings on it, told me not to bend it at all and go back on Friday  TBF, when I looked at it this morning - rather than it knitting together it was that wide and deep I did'nt know whether or not to bandage it or **** it.

ouch, pics please , how about a new thread ?
Them pads look great for skateboarders, no good for pedal rash.
I eventually gave in an bought these after a few comments about my shins on holiday

Thing is you only shred you arms an elbows if you buy a pair , apart from making you look bionic they do keep your legs dry an warm in winter though & you never really know your wearing them until you pop into sainsbury,s on the way home

*WARNING - DON'T LOOK IF SQUEAMISH*

Note the scabs on the shins from last month ^_^ thing is - I did'nt know I'd done this til I'd got home - an hour afterwards - must have been the thermolite leggings holding things together. Wear those knee protectors, kids!

Edit - Photo removed...probably too graphic folks! :shy:

Thing is I wear spd's so don't get battered by the pedals - but the scabby shins were due to me not getting my feet out quickly enough on another technical bit - comedy fall time.
