The wind didn't seem too bad this morning so my husband and I headed out along loch lomond from ballloch to tarbet on the mountain bikes. We knew that we would only be on the road for a couple of short periods on the 35 mile trip so thought, what the hell. It turned out to be the toughest ride I've done as the wind was constant with no respite and a few really strong gusts.it took us around 3 hours and as in the title, we were knackered, freezing and soaked but very happy. In hindsight it would have been easier on my legs if I'd taken my hybrid but my lbs had adjusted the positioning of my gears and brake levers yesterday and I wanted to see how it was. I've now had both a shower and a bath since I got home and finally have some heat in the old bones - time for more tea!

You're a whole lot braver than me. I haven't been over the door today and dreading having to nip out for a 5 minute walk to get milk!
When you say it took you 3 hours, was that half an hour to get to Tarbet and two and a half to get back? ^_^

88 miles today in the very sheltered less windy (but still the odd bit here and there) and no rain, also nice and warm so it was short sleeve jersey and shirts the whole way!
Cheers Ed

I was out for a 20 miler. Very cloudy, winds and rain in places but I was warm all the way round. It must be those 130 denier tights I am wearing under my bib.

DENIER...that was a new word I learnt last week. :0)

Well done on going out and riding for leisure, it was blowing a gale here in Glasgow, don't think I would have set out if it wasn't for the commute to work.

Not only was the wind strong but it kept changing direction, although not once do I remember it being behind us giving a gentle hand along! One gust came right off the loch and it me so hard side on that I nearly took both of us out. Thankfully the path was fairly narrow at the bit so we weren't side by side as I abruptly veered left!

Put me to shame. I've been off work for nearly a week and I've only been out once, albeit 29 miles though... but I need to ride some more!
