Depends on distance. I'd certainly recommend carrying a puncture repair kit as a couple of allen keys and levers as they take up virtually no space. A mini pump too for longer rides. Two spare AA batteries for the lights too. It's not just for you either, I saw someone broken down on the Snake Pass without some tools miles from civilisation but fortnately someone had stopped off to help before I got there.

Many places mobile phone coverage is dodgy so if you have to make a call to let someone know you're delayed whatever carry some 20p pieces.

If I was uber organised I'd carry a massive wrench and freewheel remover and spare spokes on long rides as I have the habit of beating up spokes on long rides.

Some people on here carry so much kit, that they may as well have a spare bike strapped to their shoulders :?:

I carry a multi-tool, puncture repair kit and pump, plus mobile phone, house keys, some cash and a credit card. There's usually room in my saddle pack for my lights as well. Oh, and a bottle of water as well.

Long rides - pump, 2 x bottles of fluid, house keys, mobile phone, change, spare glasses ( In case the 1st pair break) energy gels, tyre levers, spare tube, allen keys and driving licence, donor card ( seriously you never know) and work ID.

Off I go and you won't see me for a few hours sometimes.

Thanks for these threads, as someone who hasn't yet got a bike but is getting one soon xx( its always handy to know things like this.

Mine will have to carry a few additional bits and bobs as well-well half of Boots really! Nebuliser, nebules, inhalers, prednisolone, peak flow monitor and pain killers!

Yes, I am allowed to cycle cleared by those who are responsible for keeping an eye on me!xx(

I keep a nebuliser with me purely because I can "go off quick" generally I am well controlled but certain triggers can send me off the richter scale
