Kit for jacobs ladder

Help, I'm about to attempt the almost impossible and get up the ladder next weekend. I need some advice on which bike & tyres. I'll be bringing both my Cannondale Carbon Rush 4 and my Scott Scale 20. I've got Racing Ralphs and Knobby Nicks but they are both on the narrow side, should I be buying bigger/ heavier tyres for the job and will I make a better stab at it on a hardtail or a short travel. (20Ibs V 26Ibs).I will also be running with tubes as I can't be arsed with all the mess of tubeless. i just hope it keeps dry.

I would take a trails bike. It's the only way you'll be getting up the last bit.

I've cleared the first 3/4 before but it's always been far too rough to even begin to get up the last few times i've tried.

Could you please make sure you put it back where you found it. I need the ladder to climb down the first part.
