anyone suggest some good natural xc routes this area ?

It's maybe a little far from where you are but the Dales bike centres in Fremington has a monthly shop ride. The next one is on Sunday 6th November, anyone is welcome and it's free! I was thinking of popping along next year, I don't know the trails in Swaledale so I thought it would be a good idea to get familiar on a group ride before I ride them solo.
Have a look at their website, they have a video of the fabulous riding in Swaledale. I get notice of their shop rides and other events via Facebook.

I don't know the area but it looks like there is some off road riding going on south of Lupton and some routes or loops south of Chapel le Dale and north west of Wharfe. Check Strava heatmaps to see where people are riding near you.

Go buy an OS Map - there are tons of brilliant natural trails all around both these areas for all levels of ability

There's dedicated MTB trails at Stock's Reservoir, about 18 miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. There's also the old Hornby road which runs through the Bowland fells from Roeburndale (west) to Slaidburn... it's long yet relatively sedate.
