Oh dear I have sorted the bearings and given my delighted son his bike back only to find the chain is falling off really easily. Never been a problem on the bike before. Of course he is upset and am i very annoyed having spend ages fiddling with the bike already last few days. It is well loose but looks like if i take a link out it won't quite meet. Any ideas?

Is it a single speed type ? - slide the wheel back in the drop outs.

What kind of bike is it. If, as Fossyant asks, it's a single speed type yes slide wheel back in drop outs. This also goes for Sturmey Archer type gearing. If a dérailleur do check the chain for stretch (not really stretch but a good enough understanding of it) Sheldon has info here.
