Trips to Germany and Brussels earlier this year reintroduced me to cycling. Deciding that I wanted a city bike for cruising and doing the shopping & laundry I bought a Dawes Geneva which I'm very pleased with and thoroughly enjoy using. Features I like include the nexus hub gears and luggage racks, the former of which seem to be quite rare in this country.

Anyway, this has just whetted my appetite for something more expensive: Kettler's top of the range Selection model (though I still like the Dawes BTW), - there's something very appealing about these continental touring/city bikes and I also like the Diamant bikes which I saw in Germany; thing is it doesn't look like you can get them over here whereas the Kettlers are readily available - albeit over the internet from the main importer.

So, does anyone know/own/owned one of these and what do they think?

Many thanks.

(BTW I did a search on this site regarding these before submitting this thread)

I don't own a Kettler but they always get good reviews in the German bike mags. There are other manufacturers who produce better (and often steel framed) bikes for a similar purpose: Patria, Idworx and Fahrradmanufaktur are excellent and it might be worth checking out if they are imported
