The more I see of Bird, the more I see a success story. The spec lists look like the bikes have been configured by people who know exactly what the market wants, so much so that if you were to poll a roomful of people who ride regularly on typical Uk trails as to how they would configure a custom bike, the results would differ very little from their lists-even down to the saddles and grips. No compromises, no XT mechs added to distract from an octalink chainset, and no crappy Suntour forks, and yet the prices appear to be "dead right.". These are serious bikes, long travel hardtails are built to ride hard, and these look like they would do the job very nicely indeed. Leave the mass-market euro-style trekking bikes to those who are going to swap the tyres for City Jets and bolt on a rack. Bird look like they've found a gap in the market.... I'd love to have a go on one.
