Nothing wrong with being 42 - I'm not far behind. Just keep building up, and commuting - worth riding a number of days, then keep building up to 5 days.

Getting used to longer rides will be easy when you are up to commuting every day !

ok thanks

thats the idea i want to build up to going to work every day that is 9 miles or so there and 9 back just work shifts so getting on the bike at 4am might not be that easy ..... u know the 15 minute warm bed mode..

Hi Lidad66. Also 42, got back into cycling (after a break of 20 years), to get fit and commute to the station 1 and a half miles away. Now commuting 27 mile round trip everyweek day, and 50+ milers at the weekends. Lost 2 stone in weight and am now as fit as I was 20 years ago..
Keep it up fella, it will only get easier and better for you.
