Had a trip to the Doctors this afternoon for shoulder pain which i've had for 3 months now and whilst i was there thought i'd mention the foot pain i get after cycling about 16 miles ish,She examined my feet and told me there was nothing wrong with them, when i questioned why then i wasgetting numbness after said miles guess what she said...............................................................................................dont cycle so many miles!!!!!!! Despite me telling her i do it to lose weight, get fit and to help towards an active healthy lifestyle she told me to reduce the mileage to 5-7miles.......what a twat!!! sorry but i'm sooooo angry, after explaining yet again that 16 miles is nothing and after telling her the expense of bike etc she finally and very grudgingly referred me to phsyio. She was a stand in Doctor but still.............

It got a bit ridiculous when she examined my shoulder, she asked if i realised i had a hard lump on the top,to which i replied that if she looks at the other side she'll see an identical one and that i had spent my entire life assuming it was my shoulder bone, and that is genuine as daft as it sounds !!

I think some doctors really need to buck their ideas up a bit! I know they are busy, and they have to cope with a lot of different health problems, but if they can't get the basic stuff right, then that is a poor state of affairs!

My frail old mum ended up spending 6 weeks in hospital after one doctor arbitrarily messed with her medication, which led to her blacking out and taking a heavy fall. Having doubled the dose from what she had been on for years, he then suggested that perhaps it should be reduced to 50% of its original level instead! Doesn't that sound like he was just guessing?

I perforated an eardrum when swimming around at the bottom of the deep end of a pool. At least, I am 99.9% sure that I did, given that there was a loud 'bang', excruciating pain inside my ear, an inrush of water, severe nausea and resulting hearing loss. Despite all that, a GP got quite stroppy when I explained that, and haughtily asserted that I didn't know what I was talking about and that he was the doctor and he would tell me what had happened, despite not having been there at the time! :cursing:

This Doctor was in her 20's at a guess and just did'nt have a clue, even told me it was very inconvenient that i wanted to talk about 2 complaints and that i should've booked a 20 minute slot.I'm in 2 minds to complain to the practise manager but i'm not normally the complaining type.

It's a sad state of affairs really

Mrs JC made me go to the doc's when I planned to do my first Ironman. I avoided the 20 stone wobbling lard GP woman (seriously) and got another who said go for it and if only more people were at that extreme rather than the sofa/TV extreme

Not sure you have to go to medical school for that advice!

Out of interest, have you tried changing your shoes/socks? I had pain and tingling numbness in my feet before, weirdly only when using the X-trainer, and somebody suggested my shoes might be too tight. I scoffed at the time because they didn't feel too tight at all, but I got some new shoes and the problem went away. I'm guessing it was pressure points or something, but maybe worth a try?

I got a splinter on the inside of my eyelid about 6 months ago, I went to A&E a following day, a doctor there had a look and stated there was a scratch on my cornea but nothing there. it carried on hurting, and I went back again to be told the same thing 4 days after that, but this time they gave me some anasthetic drops to put in it to take away ....which I didn't use.
11 days after I got the splinter in it, I went to the ENT on an emergency appointment, hung around for 3 hours to see the doc (who happens to live at the far end of my road), and she removed (would you guess) the splinter. The pain/irritation went instantly.

It begs the question how they can justify the wages they get paid given what a rubbish job some do.

Hi mate, yep i've tried different shoes,i started off with spd's and had the problem so changed over to spd sl's with Altura socks and no different,i've tried the Shimano BG Footbeds still no joy,i now have the Bontrager insoles which you have to put in the oven to mould toyour foot shape, yet to try them,£50 on insoles is a tad drastic but anything to get rid of the pain.

I'm very lucky with my doctor. She's also a cyclist so know's her stuff regarding cycling (and non cycling) injuries.
