Probably already mentioned, but worth another...

If you are riding when there is a low sun and have a long shadow in front of you, then remember that the people coming towards you (In their 4 wheel tin boxes with dirty windscreens) will be skwinting to see where there are going. You will be less visable to them than usual.

Take extra care when you have to cross their path!

I've already almost had a SMIDY today at a round-about, missed my rear wheel with less than a few inches to spare, but the sun was behind her!! .. maybe she was checking her makeup in the rear view mirror and got temporarily blinded

Good advice indeed.

I've already changed my route because I have been riding uphill beside park cars into the low sun, with two lanes of traffic going the same way.

If I could hardly see the parked cars, I think the drivers behind would have difficulty seeing me, so a slight route change was in order.

+1

I had my rear light on earlier in the week when riding into the low sun :becool: however tonight I bottled it and put an extra couple of miles in, to get off the road altogether.

Ride in day light ????

Yeah exactly, what's all that about then?

This is particularly prevalent to me as at the beginning of September my cousin was run into by a car with the same problem. He was in a coma for 3 weeks. Today they took his feeding tube out and he ate for himself for the first time, which is amazing news. They still don't know how bad the brain damage is as he had a shattered skull, but it looks good now!
Oh, no helmet. *runs for cover*
