Anyone else riding this? I'm doing the short course (65 miles); after doing a 207km audax yesterday, I fancied something shorter for next weekend! Looks like it's a good course, but I'm a bit miffed at having to stump up another £6 for parking on top of the £27 entry fee. Think this should have been explained more clearly on the website - I would probably not have bothered entering.

No, Chuffy and I had a look at it...am sure it's a good route, but if I'm going to have that much pain in my legs I'd rather spare myself a sore purse into the bargain! If some of the entry fee went to the charity I'd be more inclined to enter - I find it hard to persuade people to sponsor me for anything these days.

Concur fully - again (my own fault I suppose for not reading carefully) I assumed some of the entry fee would be going to the prostate cancer charity, but as you say, it isn't; however, I have been bombarded a little by the charity trying to get me to raise sponsorship for the ride, which was never my intention - I do give to charities, but by my own methods.
I think this will be my last ever year of riding sportives alongside audaxes, It'll be audax only from now on - sportives are just pricing themselves out of the market and not necessarily delivering good events (with one or two notable exceptions, like the Dartmoor Classic).

I have to take my hat off to the organisers for a brave but correct decision. Good job it wasn't Kilo to Go - they would have run it at any cost, just to make sure they didn't have to refund anyone (i.e. like they did with the Cornwall Tor).

Sundays weather is actually good, but i guess its the standing water and river causing problems.

I hope they can run the event later in the year.
