Can anyone tell me how to join these up? (Or point me to a tutorial).

On an Ultrgra STI:

No instructions were included with the parts and I'm struggling to find anything on Google.

Thanks.

That's great, thanks. As soon as the replacement STI and calipers arrive I'm on it!

(Should have thought to go straight to Shimano's site really, rather than spending 20 minutes on YouTube).

You've tried to follow a Haynes manual too?

I used to be stupid enough to believe the Haynes manual. When it stated a job was easy, they forgot to add "for an experienced mechanic, with a complete toolkit including an electric ramp and a warm workshop, working on the car when it is brand new, not covered in mud or rust"

Instructions for adjusting the alternator belt on Mrs SJ's old Saxo -

Jack car up
Remove wheel
Remove arch behind wheel (Held by about 50 thousand self tapping screws)
Undo something or other to do with the steering and move it out of the way
Undo locking nut and turn adjuster

Actual process for adjusting alternator belt on Mrs SJ's old Saxo -

Reach up from underneath, undo locking nut and turn adjuster

I sometimes wonder if the people who write them have ever seen the actual car.

I am surprised that a Citroën had any simple mechanical jobs - my last Pug was designed (concocted?) by an engineer with 4 elbows on each arm and I suspect the same guy worked for Renault and Citroën as well.

The same guy did work for Citroen -- they're actually the same company. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupe_PSA
Yes indeed, many of the parts were dual marked - but it is all rather strange in the world of car manufacturers.
My 407 had the 1.6HDI engine which is also found in Citroëns - but the same engine is also used in some Fords, Mazdas and Volvos. (Not really different than the old Ford Galaxy/Seat Alhambra/VW Sharan)
My current Kia uses the same engine as similar models in the Hyundai range and monstrosities like the Peugeot Bipper are also badged by Fiat.

New badge engineering is truly hard to grasp.
