Good article about him in the washington post, worth a read if you have a spare 5 minutes.

As a sidenote the design of the website is one of the best i've seen in an online newspaper or magazine. Interactive and stylish yet manages that without neglecting the readability of the content.

Typically US-centric though - they describe him as "perhaps the sport’s brightest phenom" - maybe America's best current prospect but he's got a lot of competition to be the sport's brightest potential star.

It'll be very interesting to see how he does in Tirreno-Adriatico. His pal Boswell seems to be finding the going a bit tough over at Paris-Nice, and there's a world of difference between winning the Baby Giro and racing against seasoned pros. I hope he gets a chance to settle in and too much isn't expected of him too soon.

He certainly does look like a real prospect though. Is he as good as Taylor Phinney? Different kind of rider, I suppose.

Currently languishing in 132nd place in Tirreno-Adriatico, 43 minutes off the pace...

I've not seen him at all in the TV coverage in the last few stages - he's always been dropped by the time the cameras join the action. But is this because he's done his turn on the front before retiring to the safety of the grupetto? Or is he just finding racing at this level a baptism of fire? Any news?

Not suggesting we can read anything into it either way - wouldn't expect much of a showing from a neo-pro in his first big race, however prodigious his talent.

Ian Boswell, JTL & Zandio Echaide failed to finish Paris-Nice, (meaning Siutsov, Kiryenka, Lopez Garcia & Danny Pate did an impressive amount of work - Kiryenka in particular looks like a piece of work, he pulled Porte and the peloton for an hour into Nice on the penultimate stage).
Dombrowski is still in Tirreno-Adriatico, so you know, looks like he has lasted longer than some bright hopes.

There are a few photos on the team sky website with him on the front of the train so presumably he's doing some work before the tv footage starts.

And on the other hand there's Talansky.

Sure, but in terms of being a contender to be, as the article had it, "perhaps the sport’s brightest phenom", he's the real deal.

I saw Dombrowski pulling the Sky train up the climb the other day. He looked good, light and untroubled till he'd done his stint. I can't recall which climb it was.

Talansky is definitely the real deal, and a likely future GT winner, but as for being the sport's brightest phenom, I think a certain 23yo Slovak takes that title - possibly also a future GT winner in the mould of Sean Kelly.

We should probably give it a year or so before making any pronouncements on Dombrowski or Boswell.

I'd be careful about predicting Sagan as a GT winner. GT points winner, undoubtedly, but I don't think he's a GT overall kind of rider and if he tries to change himself in that direction, he might lose his strengths. He can undoubtedly win any of the Classics he decides to win and that's what I would concentrate on, if I was him.
