This is to be my first sportive, and was wondering if anybody else on here is going?

I'm only planning on the short 25 mile route, as I've not been back on a road bike for long.

50 mile route for me. It's my first sportive as well. I have done other events like the 'Wild Wales Challenge' etc. The weather looks decent up to now.

It's this weekend, on the 11th. The start point is in Poynton, Cheshire.

I thought about the mid distance route, but I've only had the bike a month and hadn't ridden for a while before... So more sense to start sensile and build up the distance.

I did it missed one of the signs and added 5 miles onto the ride! Had nothing left in the legs on the last short steep climb... But found a second wind about a mile from the end and pushed my speed up.

I enjoyed the sportive but like you said the signage could have been better. Overall I’d do it again next year.

Wondered what was going on as I drove through Woodford this morning, last week it was a pocolini(?) event in exactly the same place so had a bit of deja vu.

Weather certainly better this week.

Passed a bunch with skull and cross -bones on their jerseys, now that's my kind of cc, argh.

The arrows were a bit stumpy, they did need to be narrower to show the direction clearly on some junctions.

brilliant weather, great roads, but..... the last 15 of the 50 miles tough with some nasty little hills!!
