Jet2 and Carrying a bike

Ive done a bit of research and it appears you can take up to 2 suitcases per passenger not exceeding 22kg

We have two 22kg bag allowances one each for me and the swmbo but we can get all our holiday stuff in one 22kg allowance leaving 22kg spare

Now ive been looking at this bike bag http://www.ultrasporteu.com/default.aspx?pageID=564 and its about the size of two suitcases and fully loaded I reckon the top weght will be around 16-18kg with my carbon steed nicely packed inside

Jet2's policy appears to exclude bikes from the allowance but I assume thats if the bike was in a box or something but this will be in a case type bag and if anyhting would just need to go through the extra size holding area.

Now then if I cant get it through as standard baggage the charge £30 but not sure of this is 1 or 2 ways. I would phone the bleeders but they want 60p a minute to talk to them (robbing gits)

Anyone know anyway i can get this bike through as standard baggage? or if the £30 is both ways? Ive looked at some previous threads on here but I cant seem to find the info I want

Well Im gonna update this thread in case anyone else wants to know..

I booked a Jet2 Holiday and Not flight only and included are airport transfers. I tried to explain my cycle bag is the same size as two cases which Im entitled to (2 cases per person not exceeding 22kg) my cycle bag would be one case the size of two suitcases and 15kg in total. Unfortunately its sports equipment (or classed as) and therefore must be paid for seperately. £30 each Way and £9 each way transfers £78 in total. Not bad I suppose but I only want to ride for 3 days and to hire a bike its 60 euros which is around £50 therefore negating the advantage of taking ones own bike

FWIW I took my bike to Lanzarote with Jet2 a couple of years ago. I only actually decided to take it the day I was going, and I hired an Alan Bike Box from Bike Shack in Altrincham. Now I just presumed I could take it as my luggage allowance as it came in at about 20kg with my shoes, pedals, tools etc packed in it.

I got to Manchester airport and it just went through the oversized bag part, but two weeks later I found myself arguing with a dude at Arrecife airport as they wanted to charge me, (IIRC), 35 euros to get my bike home. I had to pay it but left feeling rather miffed TBH.

Anyhoo, when I returned the bike box to Bike Shack I was talking to the guys there and it became clear that I'd got away with it when I flew out. I should have been charged both ways, so I suddenly felt a lot better.

I'm glad I took it as it was some of the absolute best cycling I've ever done though, and I'd always take my own bike if I could as nothings quite the same as your own wheels IMO
