I live in Rotherham and we have very little choice when it comes down to bike shops and sheffield isnt much better.
Never dealt with JeJames online but have bought a couple bikes from there Rotherham branch in the last year or so.
The worksop staff seem to forget for the first year the shop has a duty of care on all bikes, separate to the manufactures warrenty, and every time you take the bike back it has to be sent away.

Please dont get me wrong the shop staff are friendly and attentive, but and it's a big but, the problem starts when you have to deal with the work shop staff especially in the rotherham branch.
The last bike i bought was a Cube ams in November, which because of the snow over the winter a did'nt get to ride much before janurary. The shop was understanding and let me bring it back for its 4 week inspection at the end of janurary, thank you.
In march my free hub collapaed and i had to return the whole wheel to shop where i was told they dont stock the part and they would have to send it back to hotlines for inspection an repair which would take about 5days.
I did have a moan about whats the point in selling the bike without stocking the parts to repair them, but had no option to let them send it back.
The day the wheel was due back in the shop came and went so i phoned the workshop at rotherham to be told it was back, upon getting to the shop i found it was a miss understanding and my wheel wasnt back, it wasnt due back for at least another 3 to 5 days.
The guy who told me it was 5 days was wrong and thats all they had to say on the matter. no sorry for that, we'll do our best to get it for you as soon as possible. I got hotlines customer service number from them and phoned them myself. they told me it shoud be 7 to 10 days but they'll send it out straight away, it should be in the store within 2 days.
The day of arrival came, i contacted the store, the wheel was'nt there phoned hotlines to be told the wheel was delivered at 930 the day before and was signed for, telling me the member of staff who signed for it. again i went to the store and after 30mins they finally found my wheel yet i barely got an apology.

I went for some replacement pads for my brakes. i was again diverted to the workshop, again a rather arrogant young man showed me the pads for my brakes but without the little spring which forces the pads apart, i said i needed the spring he checked on the computer and found the pads, The pads they stocked were for the 2010 version which kept the pads in place with a magnetic piston, the brakes had changed for 2011 version to the lttle spring, he told me he could order them for delivery At 15 english pounds + p&p on asking how long this would take, he could'nt answer. Again i questioned what is the point in selling 2011 bikes and equipment, without stocking the parts to fix them. Got them from edingborough cycle coopertive only cost me 13 english pound.

On saturday after cycling the tissington trail i noticed a drop/click as i pressed down on the left pedal when cycling up hill assuming the bearings had gone in the pedal and hoping it wasnt the bottom bracket i called at the Bike Tree, sheffield on my way back home and bought some new magnesium pedals. but this didnt solve the problem.
On getting home i phoned James up and was told it sounded like the crank or the BB and to bring down to the work shop to have a look.
Got to the shop as it opened as was directed to the workshop. explained to the lad what the problem was.
He proceeded to take the wheel off and tighten all the not and bolts. turning the cranks with out the wheel in place scuffing the frame with the chain which did'nt go down well.
He gave me the bike back and told me he didnt have time to test ride it and if the problem was still there i needed to book it in for repair and that he should'nt have done what he had as he'd been told he wasnt there to repair bikes. which just left me scratching my head.
When i told him that i had brought it down to find out whether i needed it booking in, he just grunted at me, luckly i think the thightning did the trick.

Sorry for the essay, we need more bike shops in rotherham and sheffield, for two areas so close to the peak district the choice of LBS is very small.

Why it does sound like the attitude of the JE James staff you dealt with leaves a lot to be desired, it sounds like your biggest gripe is that they don't stock every single spare part for every single bike they sell. Do you realise just how unrealistic that is?
