Hi All

Being new to the community I'm wading my way through some of the jargon, Cassette, Groupset, BB etc

However some is lost on my when it comes to cog teeth ratios etc etc (Did I make that up?)

Anyway apart from asking here all the time where is the best place to upskill on everything BIKEs?!

I want to be able to understand each component and what you can do if you ever encounter problems etc.

Thanks

+1 for Sheldon Browns website, I came across it googling "Retro Raleighs" years ago, definitely check out the cycling humor (sic) section as well Ken Kifer is fantastic "how to camp anywhere" is hilarious.

The easiest way to learn about bikes, in my opinion, is to work on your own. If you've been riding your bike and you feel that something isn't quite right, such as the gears are slow to shift, or the brakes aren't braking quite as well as they once were, then post on here, describe what's wrong, throw in a few pictures, and someone will be happy to help. There are also a whole tonne of video tutorials on YouTube for just about any bike maintenance or bike building topic you could want.

By working on your own bike you not only get a better understanding of how it works, you can also save yourself a whole tonne of money in labour costs!

When I did not know the difference between an inner tube and an inner cable  I found reading the know-how section on here really informative.
Of course the info does not always relate to the bike you actually have at hand, this is a problem easily resolved by consulting YouTube ... Google will give you pictures too :hyper:
