I am fairly new to cycling but, rather than spend a lot of money on winter clothing now, can I expect to see significant discounts being offered after Christmas.

Without being 100% sure, I think most bikes shops are keen to get rid of their 2011 stock aqap.

So you might be able to haggle them down, or get something else thrown in extra.
