I finally did my first 100 mile ride yesterday, down to Brighton, along the coast to Shoreham then back via Horsham. I'm absolutely chuffed to bits, been cycling just over 18 months and set this target to do last year bit somehow never quite managed it, due to time, work etc.
I'd be lying if I didn't admit that the last 20 miles were tough, and I have a completely new admiration for anyone who does this on a regular basis. Does it get easier with time ??

Cheers

what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, at least I hope so. Well done, I'm hoping to manage a century or two this year, but still got quite a way to go..

Congratulations did my first one about 2 years ago and still remember the feeling of achievment seeing the third digit on the computer.

Done a few more since but you dont get the same buzz you get on your first century.

Thats brilliant news on your first 100 miles and it will get easier and the last few miles is always a problem but stick with it and your progress will improve

Yes, centuries do get considerably easier the more times you do them, as long as you keep doing them. Actually, even if you let your physical fitness slip a little, the experience of having done them in the past helps you psychologically to push on - you know you can do it!

I have to say well done for getting your first one in at this time of year! Just think what you will be capable of by the time the summer comes if you keep riding regularly...

Big congratulations for that. I've not done it myself yet but aim to this year, I have my first metric century coming up on Tuesday though... Hopefully it won't put me off for life, but as you're asking about future times I look to be safe. Well done.

Did my 1st one last August (115 miles) and the last 30 miles were horrible for me, really struggled but a fellow cc'er got me through it somehow.
Have done nothing since other than normal commuting, but am doing a near 60 miler tomorrow, got a feeling another hard day is on the cards.

I hope it does

Congratulations! That is a major achievement, especially in this weather!

I rode my first century (and only so far) in September and the last 20 miles really hurt for me. Hitting 100miles going down a 1:10 into my home town will be a memory I never forget though.

Rides are definitely easier with company too, even if you are holding up the TECs at some points
