INSERN , a French research body, has announced today ( Europe1 radio) that cycling helps you live longer. They conducted a study on hundreds of ex-TDF cyclists since 1947 and it revealed that they live an average of 6 years longer than people who don't exercise. I know this is for top professionals but it also works for the average person if you cycle at least 1 hour a day apparently. So, keep cycling!

Cool, more gist for the mill in the cycle helmet debates. BTW what is gist and why would you put it in a mill?

Do you mean grist ?

I hope I outlive the wife, otherwise it's six more years of misery.
I'm sure you worship the ground Mrs. G walks on, but taking (for a bit of fun) your statement at face value, then I think its ambiguous and maybe incorrect. You say "otherwise it's six more years of misery", but you don't say whether this is compared to "had you not cycled", or "had you outlived Mrs. G". Certainly it would be six more years of misery compared to not cycling, but it wouldn't necessarily be six more years of misery compared to outliving Mrs. G. It wouldn't be any more years of misery compared to outliving Mrs. G by only a few moments, whereas it would be six years more misery compared to outliving Mrs. G by 6 years or more.

Politician or Solicitor?
I suppose I could always re-lay the patio with a very deep base that she might accidentally fall in to. Then as long as I'm not into my extra six years yet I should be able to enjoy them to the full.
If you are a Solicitor PM me your number just in case.
