I've just read the news. The change in the Spanish law will be making a few people very nervous! Perhaps, (some of) the cheats might finally be caught???

Shouldnt come as any surprise really they ve been cheating since they and Delgado robbed Millar of a Vuelta win (they must of liked Kelly). Shame Sastre is Spanish gota a bit of asoft spot for him, cant quite bring myself to see Contador in the same light though.

I totally agree with the OP - I'm very sceptical about all Spanish sports people, especially those cyclists and a certain tennis player. At least the Italians have got some balls to do something.

However compared to cyclists like Da Ros these big name pros have got off very lightly. 2 years is nothing to most of them, but a 20 year ban has effectively ruled out that young rider's chances of ever competing in professional sport again. Of course Rebellin is coming up to retirement age, but riders like Ricco and Valverde still have at least another 5 years in them. The bad apples need to be removed and eliminated.

Still, at least Spanish football is clean.

Two years is a bit of a soft option for someone like Ricco or De Luca, but if it was just a one off situation, then it's a harsh punishment. The short lived agreement to ban dopers from signing for a pro-tour team for 4 years was a good idea, until Liquigas ruined it!!!

Spanish sportsmen have been very dominant lately in various endeavours, not just cycling. I doubt the authorities want to upset that ... well about as much as UC Cycling Federation or Jamaican Athletics would want to look into their sports too hard.
