Just wanted to share my ride to work yesterday.
My misses lives in the next village and I normally ride door to door, on the way you go down this looooooong dip, then unfortunately back up the other side.
This hill has been killing me, both ways, everytime I tackle it. So Saturday I rode out there again. Determined to beat it faster than last time, which I did, by 2mins (off the total trip), found it somehow easier.
Sunday I set off to work, first time from her village straight to work. Something just felt different. After cruising down the first mile or two of country lane and saying hello to a few power-rangers coming the other way (the lycra clad people) it was time for the desent.
I utterly nailled it down the hill (well, fast for me anyway), getting 37mph according to my trip-comp, the fastest I have done yet, and holding that for a fair way. Then the climb that is usually my nemisis. But today I ripped it a new one, flew up there in no time, hardly any burn in my muscles at all and was A-OK to do it all over again within a few seconds of reaching the peak.
Through some residential, down another long hill at about 30mph then turn onto the remaining stretch to work.
Short but brilliant ride, set me up for the day !
I might not have the best bike in the world but buying it is one of the best ideas I've had in years.
