My new scheme to finally get some decent mileage in that is!

My target is 250 early morning kms (which we all know are much further than sunday afternoon kms;)) a month. So tonight I've driven a 10 mile loop from the front door around some Lincs backroads and got the bike and kit ready for the morning. I'm planning on being on the road for 0600 and back and showered for 0700...

Then wander into work refreshed and ready to go hopefully! If all goes well then as the mornings warm up I'll extend the loop a couple of kms at a time.

Only really posting this so I'll feel obliged to hit the road instead of turning the clock off and going back to sleep as has been known to happen in the past:blush:

(Yes I know I'm mixing metric and imperial before anyone points it out!)

Why not commute to work? Presume to far?

It only takes me 5 minutes to walk to work:becool: Hell, if I was fully lycra'd up on the bike I reckon even I could knock that down to 4 minutes!

That is the same reason I say loudly to the whole office "I am cycling tomorrow"

Er, gonna feel like a right pillock now but here goes...

Tomorrow aint wednesday is it?! It's tuesday, which is when work has a lunchtime spinnin session, they do one on thursday as well... So my plan for the bike was mon, wed, fri mornings - which would've worked if I hadn't been on stupid shifts this last week and lost all track of what day it is!

So yeah, it starts at 0600 on (the real) wednesday morning!

Well you'll be pleased to hear (or wont care!) that I arranged an early knock off at work and did my ride in the afternoon sun instead of at stupid o'clock.

Did 26km in 1hr - includes getting slightly lost, being battered by the wind, realising my tyres are woefully under-inflated and fording a river. Lincolnshire is not as flat on a bike as it appears from a car either...

Hmmm, not near the original plan, then?

I was wondering what size chainring you were going to use to spin up to 250 km/h? Were you going to use a rocket or other aid to tow you up to speed?

Per month - 250 early morning kms per month...

I'll be honest, now I've sold work the idea that me finishing early to get the miles in is a good idea the early morning rides have gone right out of the window;)

Ah, yes. I got sidetracked by the bit in parenthesis. 250km a month before or after work is a good goal. Early morning rides can be beautiful.

What's your weekend goal??
