IT Band surgery - anyone got experience or knowledge

Neither did I and it will be a last resort, I have tried everything else (you may know my history from other posts) but I got a letter from my consultant suggesting surgery, my concern is surgery on what? My mri showed some IT thickening but nothing of real concern, he has seen worse. I Youtubed surgery but I thought I would see if anyone on here has had any experience. My appointment is the 23rd.

Can you expand on your surgery please? I didnt know you could have surgery on it? What caused it and when is it required? Hope you have a quick recovery and all goes welll
