O.k i have just started riding a new road bike for the winter and i am getting a pain on the outside of my left knee where the it band runs past the outside of the kneecap. I want to try and stop this happening, as i do not get it from my other bike. I would like some advice on the first place to start making adjustments.

nosher, its probably your cleats too far inwards or outwards; I can never remember but this article explains it well. I hope it sorts it out I know from painful eperience how bad it can be. PS stretching helps also.

Check your saddle height as well as cleat position, overextension at the knee can cause the ITB to flick over the lateral bony parts of the knee - causing friction and inflammation.

Also you need to stretch your ITB - do a google search for those.

Ideally take the bike to a decent bike shop and get a proper fitting done.
