Not a bad idea.
Maybe this could be the start of something though!

Good to see, it should also be done the other way around.

Cyclist should be able to sit in a lorry cab and see their view on the world.
I broke down in my car about 2 years ago and got a lift home with my friends dad in a HGV. It was an eye opener as to what lorry drivers have visibility wise and how they have to navigate tighter junctions and built up areas.

I think they should park a HGV at DVLA test centres so people taking their car & motorcycle tests etc can see what the shoes like on the other foot.

I told Greenwich's* bin lorries that they shouldn't use mobile phones while driving. Did they listen? You bet they didn't.

*Sorry, Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Agreed. Being aware of eachothers perspective will help drivers and cyclists understand the needs of each side on the road.

On Wednesday night I found myself in the dangerous position of being on the inside of a moving HGV!

Approaching a traffic island, so looked and saw an HGV about 100 yards back, so I signaled and pulled into primary

The HGV then accelerates, overtakes and dives into the closing gap between me and the island. If I hadn't braked then it would have been an unpleasant outcome.

That is why HGV drivers need to be educated, and in this case it is to be done by the Company who are a "little unimpressed" by his actions

Ironically - there on the back of the trailer is:

We clearly need a campaign to stop HGV drivers putting their vehicles on the outside of a bike.
It would be nice if the politicians and journalists recognised this truth. I get a bit bored with people telling me "don't go up the inside of lorries" when the problem for me is lorry (and other) drivers pulling past, sometimes rather desperately, then left hooking. Maybe what they really need is to remember that a ten second delay has never been known to be fatal.

But what a crap photo to show to advertise it.

Steve

Since the picture is from Getty Images, and the source gives the serial number of the photo, I got back to the original image from Getty. Which is labelled as

A cyclist winds his way through a blockade of lorries in Park Lane, Central London 13 September 2000. Truck drivers are protesting over high fuel cost by blocking refineries and major cities. ELECTRONIC IMAGE (Photo credit should read GERRY PENNY/AFP/Getty Images)

So the image shows a cyclist going past stationary lorries 13 years ago. And the comments appear to be majoring on how cyclists are at fault because the picture shows a cyclist apparently between two lorries.
