Is this a good 'cheaper' stem?

I want to try out a longer stem on my galaxy...I can tafford much so forget about the higher end stuff...I'm thinking £20 tops. I had a 120mm and currently I ride a 110mm and I'm comfy...but i want to stretch out a bit more Like I do on the bianchi when I'm not loaded up...so i liked the sound of the 135mm....but I just wanted to check in case Vai is like the anti christ of stems or something and I wasnt aware....I mean to me Vai is a Godlike guitar player:biggrin:

I might be being increadably daft here but does your galaxy have a stem?

I've never heard of that make. There's nothing that I can see to make it stand out as being particular good or bad (assuming you can put up with that terrible logo). Just a cheap budget stem.

If you don't want a steep one, the ITM road stem is good enough and cheaper. It came as standard equipment on my Hewitt tourer and I've had no reason to change it.

Remember to consider the angle as well as the length, you're affectively moving the handlebars through a curve. The same length stem at a shallower angle will be further away.

I've had a couple of those ITM's in the past and they are good, but they have a 25.4mm bar clamp diameter and bars of that size aren't easy to come by these days, they're mostly 26mm and 31.8.

I've got a cheap Deda logo stem on one bike. They have the big logo for oversize bars at the same price.

It's 25.8 which is absolutly fine with a 26mm bar (That's what it's made for)

The 3 I have sitting here certainly aren't 25.8. I know this as I replaced the original ITM bars about 3 months back and the 26mm ones I got didn't fit in any of them, they left a large gap at the front and back which is why I got the deda stem.

I wouldn't know about the three you have. The one I linked to is 25.8.
Here it is from anotheer supplier, giving the clamp size as 25.8;

have you tried shoving your saddle back 10-20mm ? it makes for a very stretched out relaxing ride . You might find that does the trick

I've got one of those Vais on my commuter, been there for years and done thousands of miles without a peep, a real fit and forget component. It's a little on the heavy side, though not excessively for a cheap stem, and is very stiff.
