Hello

Having come from a golfing background where Goretex is the norm, im finding my boil in the bag cycle jackets a bit annoying

Is there such a thing as a cycling jacket with the following features

Full Breathable
Water resistant
Removable Sleeves
Lightweight (within reason)

I have found some of the features but not all in one, up to about £200

Many thanks

Stephen

Would the Castelli Gabba convertible jersey / jacket fit the bill? Or possible Gabba SS jersey with the Nano flex arm warmers?

Also I believe there is a Gore jacket, possibly phantom that may also do all of the above.

Cheers Matt

I had discounted the Gore, as its not fully breathable, but the Castelli looks interesting, I dont need it to be suitable for Monsoons so that may fit the bill, I think I will try and find one to try on tomorrow

If the Gore, was full Goretex it would be ideal

The item of clothing needed doesn't have to be an actual item of specific cycling clothing. If you have a golfing jacket that does the job use that. Don't fall for the everything i use/wear for cycling must now be cycling specific.
I do, but it's very golfy......but you may have a point

I tried on The Gore Oxygen today, does not have Removable sleeves but seems to fit everything else, still cogitating......

Ha
ha, ha ha ha, HAaaaaaaaa Ha. If there was one we'd all be wearing it.

It's a fair question and depends partly on how sweaty you get,, but for most of us fully breathable and fully waterproof are as rare as unobtanium. Also, what works for the summer is not what you'll need in the winter
If you need a sleeveless option consider a Gilet as well as a waterproof jacket, they don't have to be expensive and are very versatile and can be worn in conjunction with a lighter waterproof to deal with colder and wetter days.
There are non cycling options, I've just invested in a Paramo Velaquez light smock as my choice of winter waterproof, not light but pretty waterproof and surprisingly well ventilated.

I think I'm finding out that there is no perfect answer

I'm a sweaty bugger which does not help and I think breathability is my main concern so I will concentrate on that feature and go from there

Thanks for all you suggestions and replies

I will now go and bug the life out of the local shops and try them on for size, which is also a factor as I'm not Wiggo shaped

I've got a Goretex golf jacket with removable sleeves that I occasionally use on the bike. I find the design very versatile and prefer it to my cycle specific waterproof (which to be fair was not nearly as expensive so not really comparable). It doesn't look right but it works so...
