Going to be in Paris for a few days, does anyone know if there is a Tour shop in Paris? Would love to take the kids there, my son especially has shown a big interest. If not a dedicated shop do any of the larger stores sell the merchandise? I know there's an online store, but thought that seeing as we are going to be there it would be nice to find a real shop. Thanks.

Not TdF specifically but I know of this bike shop: Cycles Laurent. http://www.cycleslaurent.com/
It's on Boulevard Voltaire with the corner of Rue Rampon. It's very close to Place de la Republique.

You'll find a lot of official merchandise anywhere near the race, I'd imagine, including Paris. Stand around before the race comes through too and you'll also be subjected to the razzmatazz of the tour which includes things like cakes, jerseys, t-shirts, hats etc being thrown from cars before the riders come through.

You won't need to search for any merchandise mate, trust.

Have a good one won't you, just got back myself .

Thanks MR. Unfortunately not going until after the tour has finished:sad: - I would love to go to the Champs Elysees for the finish but guess it would be a bit too much of a bun fight for my wife and kids. This is just a family trip, take the kids up the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, Jardin des Plantes that sort of thing. I thought some Tour merchandise would make nice souvenirs.

The last day of the tour is not hassle at all, plenty room to walk about and enjoy. But there are always shops in Paris selling Tour merchandise.

Thanks Noodley.
Just had a look at the website of the shop Rob500 mentioned, there are some really nice jerseys, might have to pay that place a visit.

I realise the "bought in Paris" effect may be attractive, but try websites here for Tour stuff, especially GBcycles

He's right fella', you could spend a great deal for the same product. In Pau where the Etape started there was one serious exhibition with everything you could imagine right in the centre of town - name any company and they were there - bikes, jerseys, you name it, the lot. Needless to say it took all my powers of reason to not spend my life savings! And to make it worse there were offers on pretty much everything.

Have a good one and by the time you return, QPR will be ready and waiting...

But you can get a very nice Festina watch at Galaries Lafayette (sp?) for a decent price...
I think Galeries Lafayette is on Mrs D and Miss D's itinerary:rolleyes:

Thanks. How was the Etape? Have you done a write up anywhere? How did you get on?

I don't envy you one little bit going to Galeries Lafayette, it's HELL ON EARTH. Thousands of people shopping and all extremely noisy. It's so bad I had to get out of there and retire to a small bar opposite.

The ceiling in there is worth a look though before the mobs drive you out.

Pretty sure there is something on the Champs Elysee itself. Or at least there was when we were there in 2008. And yes I know it's a long street.
