Is my rack fitted correctly?

Hi from a forum noob. I've been lurking for a while but signed up now for some advice.

I'm not exactly new to cycling, but have only recently got into it in London (I moved to the UK two years ago). I have a fairly cheap bike (Specialized Globe Vienna 3) which I'm very happy with and does what I need, and today decided to get mudguards and a rear rack to make it a bit more practical.

So off I went and ended up with the standard SKS guards plus a TorTec rack (this model: http://www.wiggle.co...ack/5300003805/), which the shop then fitted for me. So far so good.

BUT the rack is not mounted horizontally. Everything I've read (watched fitment videos etc) says that it should be adjusted to be horizontal. Does this really matter? I can see how the adjustment mechanism works to the seat stays but it seems that it's already at the extent of its adjustment. What's weird is that it also seems to sitting very high and I think this is actually the cause of the problem. There seem to be additional attachment points for something on the chain stays but I'm not sure if they are related.

I've hopefully attached a few pictures below. Is it worth me trying to do something about this? Is it likely to be fixable? Any advice would be much appreciated

Doesn't really matter - Topeak recommend not quite level - so long as it clears your heals it's fine.

Some racks have more adjustment at the top (e.g. Topeak). So long as everything is secure, it's fine.

if it worries you enough, you can get something that attaches to your seat post that you can then attach your rack too. This will make it straight.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I guess I'm not going to be able to use something like this (http://www.wiggle.co...yclebags.org.uk) unless I change something, as my saddle will be in the way, so I might need to do what you suggest.

I'm a bit disappointed at how HIGH the whole thing is!

Thanks again.
