My OH usually rides a mountain bike for commuting etc. He's got a bad back and commented the other day that it was hurting him to lean over and thought he'd be better off more upright.

Can you fit such handlebars to a mounain bike?

When I had my Marin I found the same problem and got an adjustable stem from the bike shop. Having on the maximum height and rotating the bars to give as much comfort and lift as I could find improved things a lot without having to change the cables.

I actually dropped my bars lower on the advice of my physio when recovering from a trapped nerve, they have stayed down there since. In fact recently with the MTB after suffering some pins and needles in the hand I dropped them another 5mm this has cured the problem.

When I had a herniated disc I found lower bars were more comfortable, but the OH id definitely feeling that upright would be better.

How about a Rose Speedlifter?

It's a quick release handlebar stem and works a treat - I have one on my Rose ebike.

Mr Sara_H could then raise and lower the bars as often as he wants.

Riser bars would drop straight on, and butterfly bars can be used in a vertical position, like on the P-type Bromptons.
