Is it hub trouble?

Noticed a slipping sensation from the chain, always mid cassette when pedalling, the chain had seen better days right enough so I replaced chain, same problem. Just today i changed the cassette and was out for a spin and same again. So now i'm thinking maybe the hub is goosed? The wheels are bog standard Shimanos, had 2 hard years use. The only other factor i can think of is that it's a narrow chain (12/28 cassette), but i have previously run a narrow 9 speed chain on it with no problems.

Any ideas?

Check the front chainrings, could be slipping there if really worn.

Had a similar sort of problem with my Marin, turned out it was the shifter calble too tight, new cable sorrted it. BOB

If it's the freehub body slipping, shouldn't this slipping happen in all gears? Just a thought - sorry don't have the solution.

Someone a lot more knowledgeable than me going to take a look at it, thou he thought hub as well from my description. It's not running very true either, bit of a buckle there not helping.

Out on bike yesterday & today, things getting worse, the racket when freewheeling is growing (fine & no noise when pedalling), does that make it any more conclusive regarding the hub? I've my eye on a suitable new wheel & would like to be sure.
